The Tennessee Titans hold the first overall pick in the 2025 draft and are in desperate demand of talent. While many positions require assistance, the quarterback position is clearly the most in need of star power.
Given the prospects of this year’s upcoming draft, two quarterbacks remain ahead of the pack: Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward. Both quarterbacks are exceptional passers while making splash plays on the ground.
Sanders leaves the FBS with 7,364 yards through the air and 72 touchdowns in two years starting, sharing the field with Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter. Ward, on the other hand, recorded 104 career scores and 11,281 passing yards in three years.
Both men have displayed immense potential, but which would be a better fit for the Titans’ offense?
Despite the quarterbacks sharing most of the qualities needed for an NFL offense, Cam Ward has the slight edge of talent due to his size and power.
Ward’s physical playing style is similar to that of former MVP Cam Newton, but with a more potent arm. NFL Mocks quotes Ward as possessing “The strongest arm in the 2025 NFL Draft, enabling him to make every throw required in an NFL offense.”

If you look at the Titans’ current roster, the running game is the highlight. Adding Cam Ward to a backfield with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears is an outstanding rotation of runners.
Beyond the running game, the offense lacks talent, which is why the Titans need someone like Ward, who can create opportunities in difficult situations. Calvin Ridley is a solid weapon and a great stepping stone for a rookie quarterback. Plus, if the front office brings back Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Ward will have his much-needed deep threat.
One area for improvement that could become a strength is his ability to handle pressure. While being a good improviser of the football, Ward struggled to stay calm under pressure at Miami, posting a 59.5 PFF (Pro Football Focus) on plays under pressure in 2024.
However, this problem is shown in almost every rookie and could be easily fixed with coaching. The Titans are also counting on young linemen Peter Skoronski and JC Latham to step up in production to help protect their franchise quarterback.
Cam Ward would be an excellent complement to the up-and-coming Titans’ roster, which holds the first overall pick. Despite minor setbacks, Tennessee’s future would look promising with the Miami superstar under center.
